Season finale concert

7:30pm at Central Park band shell





The 101st season of the Chemical City Band concludes with a program of music that will include:

Trombone concerto, by Rimsky-Korsakov (with featured soloist Erik Ludwig)
Selections from the musical "The Fantasticks"
March of the Steel Men (dedicated to the workers in the steel mills of Joliet, Ill)
Late in the Evening (a fun latin tune by Paul Simon)
The Crosley March (Henry Fillmore's tribute to the Cincinnati businessman Powell Crosley)
Ave Verum Corpus (Mozart)
Barnum and Bailey's Favorite, by Karl L. King (perhaps the greatest circus march ever written)
The Invincible Eagle, by John Philip Sousa

Week 6 - July 21st concert

CC Band welcomes back director Jim Huber for the final two weeks of the season. This week, music from a wide variety of styles will include circus marches, music of the British Isles, George Gershwin's lovely ballad "Summertime", and of course, a Sousa march (one of the lesser known marches entitled "Jack Tar"). All this and more, this Wednesday July 21, beginning at 7:30pm at the Central Park band shell.

The weather looks excellent, so plan to join us for another summer evening of music performed by one of Midland's finest traditions, the Chemical City Band.

Week 5 - July 14th

Our next concert will be on Wed July 14, beginning at 7:30pm in Central Park. Guest conductor for the Chemical City Band will be Wendy Hohmeyer, director of the Midland Community Orchestra.

Joining us for this evening will be the cast of the summer TMI production of "Kiss Me Kate" (at the Midland Center for the Arts), who will offer excerpts from their upcoming production. Check the website http://www.mcfta.org for dates and times.

Week 4 - concert on Wed July 7th

Our 4th concert of the season will be led by guest conductor Steve DeRees, director of the H. H. Dow High School bands (and a member of the CCB tuba section). Concert time remains at 7:30pm, so come out and enjoy anther wonderful concert in Central Park.
