This year the single rehearsal will be held in the Central Auditorium band room from 7:00 to 9:30 PM on the prior Monday. Please use the parking lot off Reardon Street. This performance schedule requires talented and dedicated musicians who demonstrate excellent sight-reading skills. A few positions/dates still need to be filled, particularly bass clarinet and baritone sax. Steve DeRees will direct most of the performances once again, but defer to a guest conductor or two this year. Additional members of the CCB Board of Directors include Sue Gessford, Dick Scott, Gaye Terwillegar, Mara Stewart, and Rich Harner.
The Chemical City Band participated once again in the Give Local Midland fund raiser on May 7, netting $1,420 in direct contributions from 15 donors. Thanks to all who called in for this one day event!
The Chemical City Band is a non-profit (501c3) musical organization. Cash/check donations can be made during the concerts in one of the two snare drums (heads removed), or sent directly to 5709 Tiffany Lane, Midland, MI 48642. Alternatively, donations towards our long term investment fund can be made to the Midland Area Community Foundation, 76 Ashman Circle, Midland, MI 48640. Checks/grants should indicate the "Chemical City Band Endowment Fund #545".
Please check this blog for more news throughout the season. Additional information including last minute updates can be found on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/chemicalcityband. Also, check out the Verge section of the Midland Daily News each week.
Hope to see you all at our first concert on June 19 in the band shell.
