2019 Season Opening Remarks
With the start of the 2019 season of the Chemical City Band just 2 weeks away, I want to preview our 110th summer of performances. As before, all concerts are free and occur at the Nicholson-Guenther Community Band Shell in Midland's Central Park on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM. In case of rain, the performance will move over to the Central Auditorium.

This year the single rehearsal will be held in the Central Auditorium band room from 7:00 to 9:30 PM on the prior Monday. Please use the parking lot off Reardon Street. This performance schedule requires talented and dedicated musicians who demonstrate excellent sight-reading skills. A few positions/dates still need to be filled, particularly bass clarinet and baritone sax. Steve DeRees will direct most of the performances once again, but defer to a guest conductor or two this year. Additional members of the CCB Board of Directors include Sue Gessford, Dick Scott, Gaye Terwillegar, Mara Stewart, and Rich Harner.
The Chemical City Band participated once again in the Give Local Midland fund raiser on May 7, netting $1,420 in direct contributions from 15 donors. Thanks to all who called in for this one day event!
The Chemical City Band is a non-profit (501c3) musical organization. Cash/check donations can be made during the concerts in one of the two snare drums (heads removed), or sent directly to 5709 Tiffany Lane, Midland, MI 48642. Alternatively, donations towards our long term investment fund can be made to the Midland Area Community Foundation, 76 Ashman Circle, Midland, MI 48640. Checks/grants should indicate the "Chemical City Band Endowment Fund #545".
